Running as exercise for the body and mind

Many of us lead more sedentary lifestyles that people would have done in the past. Sitting at a desk all day can cause problems with your back, neck and shoulder muscles and you can find that your movement becomes a little harder. It is important to ensure that you have the correct desk set up and that you sit on an Operator Chair that is designed for desk working. You should also ensure that you regularly get up and move around.

Running is a great option if you are looking for something that you can do in your lunch hour or perhaps after work as a way to wind down from the stresses of the day. Although it is classed as a high impact sport there are ways in which you can control this so that it is suitable for people of all ages and fitness abilities.

Running helps to keep our cardiovascular and respiratory systems in shape as well as helping with weight loss and toning your muscles. It can also help to strengthen the muscles in your legs and to release tension that may have built up during the day from sitting at your desk. It is also great for helping your mind to wind down and to release some of the mental stresses and strains that may have built up throughout your work day. If you find that your mind wanders during your runs you can always listen to some music through earphones along the way, although it is important that you are still aware of your surroundings.
