Interview with Published Photographer Turned Dubai Influencer Jaime Morton-Hawley

How Did Your Photography Career Begin?

I went to University for Filmmaking Studies and Digital Media in the US. I shot super 8mm films and 35mm photography, editing in a darkroom and getting my hands dirty. It was the best.

When Did Your Work Start to Get Published?

Honestly, I started submitting my work to small publications and I worked up from there. I didn’t realize how many features I had accumulated until I opened a linkedinaccount. I know that sounds silly but I’m not into that sort of thing. My first major publication was Esquire in Bulgaria with my friend and model Rali Ivanova.

Where Else Have You Been Published Since Then?

As a photographer, I have been published in magazines like Maxim Italia, Playboy Philippines FHM India. I’ve had a publishing PR company called Nova Prime PR for years and have published others as well. That list is even longer than mine. It includes magazines like Maxim Australia, Playboy Croatia and FHM Indonesia.

So How Did You Transition into Being an Influencer? And in Dubai No Less?

I moved to Dubai with my family a few years ago and decided to use my photography skills as a content creator for brands. I’ve worked with Nokia, Empire Movies, Nars Cosmetics, Fujifilm, Dell Computers and even UAE Tourism Boards. I post that content on social media and it has grown my account to be considered influential.

Over 70k Followers on Instagram in Dubai. Any Other Notable Mentions?

For the past year, I have been a contributing beauty writer for WKND magazine with 8 articles published. I was an official Ambassador for the Middle East Film and Comic Con in 2019, which was a rather expanding experience.

Do You Focus on Only Brand Collaborations?

No, I’ve also been really active online, contributing to TripAdvisor, growing my account to over 25 badges and 10,000 readers, contributing to Zomato.com, growing to a Level 8 Super Foodie. Oh, and I recently hit 1 million views as a Google Local Guide. I really like to work with restaurants and hotels on expanding their reach and adding photo/video content to their social media accounts and websites.

Looks like there is no stopping you!

Haha! I always love to keep expanding into new things. My social media account is very lifestyle driven, but I am looking into focusing on a beauty you tube account and a movies/entertainment podcast. I was recently featured on 103.8 Dubai Eye radio with Helen Farmer talking about multitasking my life. I can’t wait to see what 2020 will bring!
